Susan Brockway
I can't believe that it has been 20 years. Where has the time gone,
and do I have anything significant to show for it besides a few
wrinkles. I will skip the gory details of my life and go on to say that
I am in Los Alamos and have worked in the same Division (Technology
Transfer) at the Laboratory for 14 years in many different job
capacities. I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration with a
minor in Environmental Management. I am currently working on a Masters
Certificate in Project Management and hope I can pass my PMP (Project
Management Professional) exam next year.
I have a wonderful daughter, Tiffany who is 15 years old and a
freshman at Los Alamos High School . She plays on the High School
volleyball and golf teams and has played violin in the orchestra and
loves to sing in the choir. Most of my time is spent hanging out with
her (although I see that quickly coming to an end). We ski, bike and
golf together often. My last 15 years have been spent going to school,
as a girl scout leader, soccer mom, gymnastics helper, junior Olympic
volleyball board member and most remarkably church council vice
president.
I think the most significant thing to happen to me over the past 10
years was losing our home in the Cerro Grande fire. But, the most
remarkable part of that experience was rediscovering the good in
mankind. The outpouring of love from all over the country (including
many of you all) is what I will treasure always.
After the fire, I spent a large amount of my time (aside from
clean-up and rebuilding) on the board of the Cerro Grande Fire Survivors
Association. This town showed remarkable strength and pulled together
in ways I would never have imagined.
I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the reunion, hope you
can make it.
