Melanie Dunne (Roshto)
It has been so long since I have been in touch with anyone from Los
Alamos! I don't have any family in New Mexico any longer so I haven't
been back there for over 10 years.
After high school I moved to Mississippi and went to the Univ. of
Southern Mississippi. My family is all from the South. I got a degree in
Speech Pathology and enjoyed watching Brett Farve play football for the
Golden Eagles. After graduation I went to Santiago, Chile as a
missionary and loved it. I loved learning Spanish and serving the
people there. I met a wonderful man, Chris Dunne, who was also a
missionary. He was from Denver. We came back to the States and got
married in 1993.
We currently have four children. Julia 12, Kylie 10, Ethan 7 and Emily
5. Our family moved around quite a bit while my husband was in the Air
Force and then as my husband finished up a medical degree. We have
lived in Denver, Mississippi, Texas, DC, Detroit and currently in
Missoula Montana. We moved here two years ago when my husband finshed
his residency in Detroit. We love Montana. This is home for us.
I have been really blessed in my life to be a stay at home mother. I
have not worked since I got married! I have loved being able to spend
time with my children and just focus on my family. I love my husband
dearly. He is the rock of our family. I feel spoiled that I get to be at
home with my kids. Summers are the best time and I always dread when
school starts. I love to play outside with the kids and go on
adventures. I guess I really haven't done anything great with my life. I
don't have a career. I haven't traveled the world but I am doing exactly
what I wanted to do. I am so happy and feel so lucky to have the family
that I have.
The only set back I have had was in 2002 when I became seriously ill
after the delivery of our last child. I don't have a diagnosis as of yet
but have been told that I either have Multiple Sclerosis or that I had a
stroke. I suffered some brain damage in the part of my brain that deals
with language and also where it deals with memory. I entertain my kids
all the time by calling things by the wrong name! If you send me an
email, I may not remember that I read it. ha ha ha. I have a lot of
weakness on my right side also but I can still walk. I hope to have a
diagnosis some day. As for now, I just keep enjoying each day as it
comes and feel so blessed to have the time here that I do enjoy.
I love to email and would enjoy hearing from anyone. I am not sure if I
will make it to the reunion. But I will look forward to seeing the
pictures.
