Lilly Anaya (Hinsley)
I decided that I'd better get this bio in so my boss can stop bugging
me. Never in a million years would I have thought Rick Wangen would be
my boss! Life can be cruel sometimes.
(Added Note From Rick... Lilly, did you pick up my dry cleaning
and that anniversary gift for my wife yet?)
Looking back over the past 20 years, I realized that I have been
truly blessed. I am pretty much where I thought I would be 20 years
ago. I wanted to go to college, get married, and have 3 kids. And that
is exactly what I did.
After graduation I went to UNM and lived in the dorms with Susan
Brockway. I eventually moved into an apartment with my brother Tony and
Kelly Kelso. We called ourselves "Three's Company". The apartment was
known as Grand Central Station. I'm sure many of you stopped by from
time to time. After Kelly moved out, Melissa Miller moved in and
college life continued. I did manage to graduate with a Bachelors of
Business Administration with a concentration in Business Computer
Systems.
During my junior year, I met my husband, Roger Anaya. From our very
first date, we both knew that we were meant to be together. We were
married 8 months later. This shocked everyone (except those close to
me) especially since he was being deployed to Saudi Arabia (Desert
Storm) the following week. He asked me to marry him on a Monday, and we
got married on a Saturday! Thanks to my friends, we had a great wedding
and reception and looking back, I wouldn't change a thing.
Six months later he returned, we both graduated from UNM and started
our family. We now have been married 17 years and have a 15 year old
son Roger, 12 year old daughter Rachel and 8 year old daughter
Elizabeth.
My life right now revolves around my children. My son Roger is a
freshman at LAHS and plays basketball and baseball for the Toppers. My
daughter Rachel is a cheerleader at the middle school and also plays
fast-pitch softball. My daughter Elizabeth is in the 3rd grade at Pinon
and plays soccer, basketball & softball.
We have been back in Los Alamos since 1992 and have been very happy
here. I still hang out with some old high school friends that have
moved back (or never left). My days are full with being a mom and
working at LANL. I am also the treasurer of the Pinon PTO, Girl Scout
leader, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the White Rock Little
League.
So, in my spare time I hope to make it to the reunion . . .
especially since I don't have far to travel!
