Oh my gosh! I can't believe that it has been twenty years! After high
school, I went to Eastern New Mexico University in Portales to attempt
to get my associates in business education. I occasionally saw a few
LAHS classmates on Campus. At this time, I was not quite ready to get
serious about school. I ended up enjoying life too much in Portales and
eventually moved back to Los Alamos. I tried to set serious again by
starting at Santa Fe Community College about a year later. However, I
still wasn't ready and my grades showed it. Between 1988 and 1994 I
concentrated on other things besides school. I got married in 1991 and
had a son, Christopher, in 1992. I keep the kid and ditched the dude!
Christmas 1996 the divorce was finalized. I finally got serious about
school and was ready to try again in 1994. I started studying Substance
Abuse Counseling and Human Services at Northern New Mexico Community
College in the fall of 1994. I graduated with my Associates Degree in
1997. I found the love of my life, Fred Ortiz, in Winter, 1996! He
helped me through my divorce and became my best friend. We were married
a year later, December 1997. That year, I also went back to school to
complete my Bachelors in Social Work. Since I had a 4.0 grade point
average, I was accepted into the one year Clinical Social Work Program.
I received my Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work at New Mexico
Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. Since graduation in 2003, I have
been working as a Clinical Social Worker.
I like to spend time with family. My son Christopher, who will be 15
in August, has found a talent and a passion for architecture. He is very
creative and is learning how to do architectural drawings. He loves
computers, building prototypes of his ideas, the outdoors and camping.
My husband, Fred, also enjoys the outdoors and camping. I am very
blessed to have the two of them, as well as my beloved dog, Peaches. I
love Peaches very much and consider her my therapy dog. She is a 2 year
old, 7 pound bundle of love. Nevertheless, at times, she can be evil,
especially if she is disturbed while sleeping.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the 20th High School
reunion.
