Hello everyone! Yes, I am still in Los Alamos. I never thought in
high school that I would be living here, but now with two kids, I can
not think of a better place to raise a family. After graduation, I went
to school at New Mexico Tech and earned a B.S. in Environmental
Engineering with an emphasis on rugby. At the start of my junior year
at Tech, I met Julie and four-and-a-half years later we were married in
Los Alamos. The summer of 1993 I went to work for a consulting firm in
Los Alamos and began the ongoing search for the next rung up the
corporate ladder. After Julie graduated in 1995, she went to work for
the Lab and we spent much of our free time traveling and enjoying the
mountains. In 1999 I earned a Masters in Engineering from UNM and
received my PE License. September 11, 2001, we were on a backpack trip
in the Wind River Range in Wyoming when I decided it was time for me to
quit working for the man. So in October 2001, I turned in my
resignation and started my own engineering consulting business. We
lived in White Rock until 2002 and then decided to move off of the hill
to Nambe where we spent a couple of years before moving back to White
Rock where we are today.
In October 2002, Julie and I along with my brother and friends spent
three weeks rafting the Grand Canyon. This would turn out to be our
last big adventure for awhile, as in July our first boy (Hayden)
arrived. Our second son (Cameron) was born in October 2005. The boys
keep Julie and I very busy as they are high energy but I don't think I
would want it any other way. With two young boys we have traded our
tent for a camper but I hope in the next few years to get back to
roughing it. Hayden attended the Hilltopper soccer camp last summer but
was more interested in picking up the cones and running around with them
than he was with playing soccer, maybe next summer. Julie is now
working half-time at the Lab and I am still running my business;
although with the contract change at the Lab contracting is becoming
more of a challenge. My parents still live in town and are a great help
with the kids. The rest of my family and Julie's parents have also
stayed in the west (mostly in Colorado) making it easier to spend time
with everyone.
